Only ONE week left!! Yippy!!

So don't get me wrong... I absolutely love school and learning and all that... but after going to school for more then a year straight with only a seven week break in between I am worn out! Plus with all the new additions to the family this past week I am so excited to go home and meet everyone!
I am so excited to meet little Cash and Duke (my grandparents' new puppy).  More excited for Cash as you probably all can understand! I've been super excited for his arrival and its killing me being so close yet so far away. I already started packing so that I can head home that much sooner!
I got to see a picture of Cash and he is such a cute little guy!! Goodness!! Congrats Matt and Amber on the new arrival!! And thank you to whoever took the pictures!!
Well, before I get to see everyone I have a fairly hectic week ahead of me.  A couple papers, exam, and a speech.  I am pretty lucky though, my roommate has nine tests!! Haha!! Over achiever!! :)
I am so thankful for my family and the amazing people they are!! Love you guys!! I can't wait to see all of you!!

My quirks? Hmmm...

Well... I am now faced with the challenge from my wonderful Aunt Val to think of 6 personal quirks... This may be difficult... ;)
1. I am always on the look out for Ninja warriors.  Lol. This may sound a little paranoid but every time I am out in public I am always prepared for them to come and try to steal my purse or drop down from the ceiling to fight me.
2. Another thing that I always do is watch people.  I love noticing little silly things people do and how odd some of God's creatures can be.  The problem with this is that I am always the one noticing people when they are doing embarrassing things, which in turn makes ME blush.
3. A horrible quirk or mine would be the fact that it doesn't take much for me to blush... and in fact I am blushing right now as I am writing this. While living in Utah this summer it was my grandpas favorite trick to make me blush as much as possible. :) It was a fun game... for him! But being here at BYU I though I have found that this is a pretty good tool when it comes to flirting with the men... for some reason many of them find it to be cute.
4. My roommates sometime get annoyed with this quirk of mine... When I'm watching TV I tend to talk back to it.  I really have no explanation for why I do this other than the fact that I am a little odd. Thanks DAD!!! :D
5. The fifth quirk that I posses is my color matching issues.  I can not, physically can not, wear brown and blue in the same outfit.  And I also can't wear black and blue, or black and brown. My mom has told me multiple times that these colors are fine together but... I just can't do it.
6. My last quirk is my lack of self control when it comes to impulses.  I don't even know how many times I have said things that make me blush instantly or that I have regretted later. When I am bored it is especially difficult for me to fight physical impulses to either hurt people or objects. My family can contest to my spontaneous need to tackle them or hug them extremely tightly.  I have also taken out impulses on poor unsuspecting household objects.

I would have to contribute most of my quirks to that fact that I am just a little bit different and in order to not self destruct I have to find things to keep myself busy.  :) But I sure to keep life exciting for those around me!!
Well, Aunt Val this was pretty difficult but I am honored to have been tagged by you. I love you so much!! And sadly I don't have enough blogger friends so I am the loser that won't be tagging anyone.  I hope you enjoy this blog!

Awesome Concert!!

D'laney and I decided to attend the awesome concert here at BYU-I called Guitars Unplugged.  The concert consists of students performing songs with their guitars, and they do such a wonderful job! My favorite would have to be the "Pick up line song".  It was a song performed by two guys and they were trying to teach men how to us pick ups the right way verses using them inappropriately.  It was very clever and entertaining!!
But I'm pretty sure D'laney and I had way more fun getting ready for the concert.  I dressed up as rocker as I could; with my Skin tshirt with my tight jeans and hot pink and black high top Convers sneakers!! :D and D'laney had to do my hair and make-up of course!!

I Should Be Fired

I am SOOOOO sorry for not keeping up with my blog.  I am such a loser. :D I'm not trying to make excuses for my neglect but I have been pretty busy lately and when I'm not busy I never think to update my blog.  So I'm very sorry and I will definitely not be winning the "best blogger" award.  Hehe.
So school is going really well.  My schedule isn't too hard or busy which is wonderful.  I'm currently taking 14 credits--psychology 101, english 111, public speaking, intro to guitar, and study skills-- which isn't too difficult.  Sometimes I feel like I should be taking more classes until I'm working on homework for what feels like forever.  Lol!
My roommates and living conditions are fabulous as well!! One of my roommates is an old friend from back home and she is absolutely wonderful!!! I didn't know her that well when we were young women together and getting to know her better and spending more time with her is great. I was really surprised to find out that we are very similar.  We are both OCD about a lot of silly things and it's great that she understands when I like things in a certain order or in a certain way.  She doesn't criticize me but rather says stuff like, "Oh my gosh! Me too!!" or "I do the exact same thing!!".  It's great.
My other roommates are pretty awesome too.  One of them is a senior who has an obsession with bluegrass and she can play the fiddle. Two of them are freshmen from Utah who are very motivated about school at the moment and are usually in their room working on homework. And my last roommate is pretty much engaged to this guy who is always here.  They make me sick... lol. Jk!
So I took some pictures for you so that you could see how great my apartment is (especially compared to the disgusting dorms!!) There's a picture of my room, the bathroom that I share with two of my roomies, kitchen, dining area, and the living room.  It's pretty boring when it comes to decoration but I love it!!
Well, I hope you enjoy this blog cause who knows when I'll update it again.  Hehe. I love you all and miss all of you like crazy!! I hope life is treating you right!! Love ya!!

SLC

So I've been having a great time down here in SLC. Matt and Amber have been amazing in keeping me entertained and allowing me to to hang out with them.  Since being here I've gotten good meals numerous times, mini golfed, watched movies, swam with the cousins, and just gotten to see and spend time with my family.  I love my family so much!!
Grandma and grandpa are worried that I've been bored while being here and that they aren't entertaining me well enough which isn't the case at all.  I really enjoy just chilling and relaxing with them.  It's been really awesome getting to know them more and being able to spend so much time with them.  :D
Well I thought that I would have more to say since it's been so long since I've blogged but this is about it.  Starting tomorrow me and grandpa have a couple projects that need to get done.  We are going to build a couple shelves for their closed and the bookcases downstairs. And we also have to fix the the fence that that dim wit broke when he tried to still grandpas truck. So this will for sure be an adventure.
Well, love ya! Thanks for checking out my blog!

Life in Mayberry

So before I begin I would first like to apologize for not posting anything for such a long time.  I really don't have a justifiable excuse other then laziness. :D My bad!
So after coming back to Lind for a 3 week visit I have no clue how I managed to survive!! Lind is so unbearably boring!!! My friends are all busy with work and everything that they don't really have time for me.  Lol. And when they do have time, they are so tired from working and everything that they don't really want to do anything other then sit on the couch and socialize. But I can't really blame them, what else is there to do?!
But with all of this it has been really good seeing my peeps and my family.  I am so ready to go though! My parents and I are trying to figure out certain guidlines and rules that I should follow since I am now on my own.  Of course I don't think I should have to be home at a certain time, but after I came home at 3 in the morning and having my mom chastise me, I figured out that they have a very different view on the matter.  So we have been having an almost silent argument or fight about this and I can't wait to be on my own again! But of course I still laugh at them and find this whole situation a little entertaining! :)
Well, I'm going back to SLC next week and I'm super excited but also wary of the boredom that may be waiting me there.  All in all, I can't wait to go back to school!!

School's Almost Over!!

Oh my gosh!!  I have about 7 days left of school and then I will finally have a summer break!! 7 full weeks to do whatever it is I want! No more school!! Goodness I'm excited!!
So for this break I am going to stay in Utah for a couple of weeks and then head up to Lind for maybe 2 weeks and then head back to Utah.  I probably won't get a job but I am so looking forward to just having fun with my friends and family!
I'm super excited about his fall though!! I am going to take a guitar class and I can't wait!! I dropped my Book of Mormon class in order to fit it in but I still have the same amount of credits (don't worry dad). My Uncle Matt is going to let me borrow his guitar too so I don't have to worry about any of that.
I also got some great news this week! My aunt and uncle are going to have a little baby boy!! I'm super excited!!!!! :D I love new cousins!! His name is going to be Cash Matthew!! The other exciting thing is that he is due in December and I get out of school then so I hopefully will be around to see him when he is tiny! It's so cool being so close to my family down in Utah.  This is the first time since I moved away that I am so close!! I absolutely love it!!
Oh and here's just a funny story I thought you might enjoy: So the other night I was woken up in the middle of the night by two girls screaming at each other.  And when I say screaming I mean SCREAMING!! I have no idea what it is that they were fighting about but I learned later that it wasn't the first time they had fought like that.  Then last night a police officer showed up and I learned that one of the girls had an attorney and was going to prosecute the other girl!! Isn't that insane??!! All of the issues that I had or thought that I had with my roommates seem so insignificant and silly now.  LOL! Dumb girls!!
Well, I don't think I have anything else to report. Life is going very well right now and I'm loving it!! I love you and I hope everything is going swell for you as well!! :D

Just Some New Info

Hi! Sorry that it took me so long to enter a new blog, I just feel like their should be something of great importance to constitute taking the time to write and for you to read.  So I am heading back down to Salt Lake City for fourth of July weekend and I am absolutely stoked! My Dad and Lexi flew down for the weekend so it will be the first time I get to see them since starting college! It is going to be so much fun! I am also excited to sleep in a big persons bed.  LOL. The dorm beds are only a twin and I can't wait to be able to stretch out while I sleep. Air conditioning will also be nice. :D
So since my last blog I have changed my fall class schedule around.  Currently I am scheduled to take the second half of Book of Mormon, Study Skills, General Psychology, Introduction to Humanities, English 101, and Geology 101.  I am pretty excited and nervous about my class schedule just because this will be the first semester that I will be taking a normal (according to my father :D) work load.  But I'm pretty confident in my ability to get things done.
Well, nothing else has really happened... Oh wait!! I started to read the Twilight series and I absolutely adore them!! You may not know this about me but I am a huge romantic and a true believer in love and I loved being engulfed with this love story!! I can't wait to read the second book!!
Ok, I think that that covers pretty much everything.  No boys have come into my life, I have grown stronger friendships with some of the girls here, and I am keeping up quite easily with my classes.  I love you and I can't wait to see you! I hope everything is going well!
Love,
Kate

My Trip to Utah

Hey everyone!! So my trip to Utah went fantastic! I am so proud of myself for making it down there without getting lost! I actually was able to read and follow a map and everything!! :D This is a very big accomplishment for me since i have never driven in Utah before let alone found my way around!
So visiting grandma and grandpa was absolutely wonderful.  My grandma is doing very well and I am so proud of her! Her motto is giving 110% to healing and following directions and that is exactly what she is doing.  She is going to be able to go home this friday and I am really excited for her.  I know that she will make a great recovery and will be back to normal soon.
My grandpa is also doing amazingly well.  He of course is pushing the limits with his leg but I didn't expect any less from him! He is a great man and I am proud to have him as my grandpa! He is very tough and strong, and with this accident I have noticed little positive changes in him that are fantastic.  He also is going to make a full recovery and I am very proud of him for doing so well.
So for July 4th I am going back down there and I can't wait to see everyone again.  I got to see some of my family but not too much of them and I am stoked to spend a lot of time with them! I love them so much and I am so thankful for them and their little quirks! My family is pretty sweet!!
Well, I haven't even started on my homework yet so I better get on it.  Love ya!!

Visiting the Fam

Hi everyone!! So nothing that new or exciting has really been going on.  I've come out of my shell a little more and have made more friends.  I've also started to hang out with people instead of just sitting in my dorm all day! :D It's pretty exciting!
So this weekend I am heading down to Salt Lake City to visit everyone and see Grandpa and Grandma for the first time since last year! I'm really really excited and nervous since I'm going to have to drive down there by myself for the first time.  But I will figure it out and hopefully make it there safely.
School is going fine.  Nothing really new going on there. I signed up for my classes for the fall semester and I am going to take 16 credits.  I'm pretty nervous with that work load but my dad is convinced that I will be fine so we will see.  I'm taking english 101, psychology 101, humanitites 101, geology 101, Book of Mormon 122 (which is the second half of the class I'm taking now), and a sports psychology course that is more like a how to coach course I think.  I'm really excited,! Although I'm not looking forward to buying 7 text books!
Well, I love you all and I hope you are doing well! See Ya!!

My Bad

I'm sorry that I haven't written a new blog in awhile. My mom got after me for not having anything written but nothing exciting has happened. It's pretty boring over here to be honest, which is probably my own fault.  I actually attempted to make my life more exciting by going to a dance last night but it was so ghetto.  My high school dances were bigger then that dance.  So my days consist of going to school, coming back to my dorm, doing homework and then I sit around.  Pretty dumb... But as my mom pointed out maybe it will be better in the fall.
Well I guess I lied, there is something kinda new and exciting that is going to happen... Next semester I won't have to live in the dorms! I'm going to get an apartment! An apartment with PRIVATE ROOMS!! :D I'm really really excited about this!
Well, time for me to go and get ready for the day of laying around.  Love ya!

My Presentation

So my presentation went AMAZINGLY WELL!! Just in case you don't know what 1 Nephi 3-5 discusses it is when Nephi and his brothers are commanded to go and get the brass plates from Laban.  Anyway, the question that I asked the class was: would Nephi still have been so strong spiritually and close to the Lord if he didn't have the constant opposition from Laman and Lemuel? The other question I asked is if Lemuel would have been a better person without Laman? The reason I asked the second question is because in 1 Nephi 3:28 it says how Lemuel was angry about their situation because Laman was angry.  :D Pretty good huh?! lol! It's amazing what you can do when you are guided by the spirit.
So today we had a great devotional from Elder Spencer Jones.  It was of course amazing! He discussed (shoulda known) marriage.  LOL! It's amazing how that's all everyone around here talks about.  I'm staying away from the "M" word though.  :D
Oh my! I can't believe that I forgot to mention this before... My Book of Mormon professor look a lot like Mr. Taylor!! It's so freaky!! (For those of you who don't know Mr. Taylor was my Science teacher in high school).  It is really freaky!
Ok... Time for me to go and find something for dinner.  I love and miss all of you so very very much! I hope that everything is going well and if it isn't take it up with the Lord! :D

Monday, June 9

Just another day...

So I don't really have any new and exciting news to tell ya.  I just thought that I needed to post something so that if you took the time to look you would be rewarded.  LOL!
Tomorrow for my Book of Mormon class I have to give a presentation on 1 Nephi 3-5 and I'm pretty stressed out about it.  I have to either present a question that causes the class to go into a deep conversation or I have to present part of the scripture that struck me and show the teacher that I got interested and thought long and hard about it.  Well... I've read through the chapters a couple different times and I think that I have come up with some pretty good questions and personal insights.  Pray for me.  LOL!
Tonight I get to meet my FHE family (Family Home Evening) and I'm kinda excited but mostly nervous.  I don't really feel like meeting more new people.  I hope I don't sound like a spoiled brat... cause I promise I'm not! I just don't really appreciate new people and having people pretend to care where you are from and what you are going to major in and all that.  But I will go and pretend to enjoy myself and maybe I will be surprised and totally enjoy myself and have a wonderful time! :D Ok... I'm done complaining.
If you still haven't read those talks that I mentioned in a previous blog you better get on it! They will change your life! :D Love ya!! xoxoxoxo

The Date

So the date is over... and it was a lot of fun!! My date was super nice and friendly.  He was a lot of fun to talk to and be around.  But I'm not really attracted to him.  He would be a nice friend. LOL! And he smelt really really good!! :D I hope that this is enough information for you and if you have any questions I will be more then happy to answer them!! Love you!

Blind Date

Ok... So just in case a rumors are flying around I thought I would put the record straight.  This Saturday I am going on a double date. D'laney Killian who is one of my good friends from home originally was going on a date and thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to meet some one new and it would make it so that she wouldn't have to go alone. (She doesn't want me to tell you this but her date is sort of a creepo).  And don't get angry if you thought you should have had VIP access to this information.  I only found out about all this last night around 7. All I know about him is that his name is Taylor Phillips.  But once I find out more I will be sure to let you know. I will also make sure to let you know how the date goes. Love ya!

Day Two

Hi! Today was my second day here in Rexburg and it was a lot like yesterday.  I went to my classes and then came back to my dorm (I refuse to call it home) and did my homework.  Nothing exciting happened at all today. Pretty dang boring if you ask me...
So I thought I would just let you know that I am totally DOMINATING my math class! It is so cool how good I am at math for the first time in my whole entire life.  I am helping the teacher figure stuff out and the students next to me ask me for help.  lol! It's pretty sweet!
Another thing that isn't that cool that I've learned about myself is that I am a lot like my mom in the aspect of OCD. My roommates like to leave their dishes in the sink until night and it absolutely drives me nuts! I also am the only one that has vacuumed and taken out the trash. :D I'm sure that my mom will just be smiling while reading this but it kinda disturbs me.  I also have a hard time using the bathroom cause of germs and what not... their is hair all over the sink and dried toothpaste is in the sink which about takes me over the edge... Stop smiling mom! :D
I got a very nice call today from Coach Heidenreich.  He just wanted to check in on me and see how things were going.  It really surprised and delighted me that he would care.   He also told me he thought it was awesome that I went somewhere where I knew no one and that I was doing good things.  Mom you can smile now! lol. It was pretty sweet.
Well, I love you all.  Oh wait, you have to read a talk written by Howard W. Hunter entitled Reading the Scriptures.  It is an amazing talk!!
Ok, now I'm ready to say good bye.  I love you all!!

Classes

Hello! So today I officially began school.  This morning I had a little bit of a scare.  Last night I set my alarm for what I thought was 8:46 a.m. but this morning I woke up at 9:00 and realized that I had set my alarm to p.m. instead of a.m.  Luckily I woke up or else I wouldn't have made it to my classes.
So after I showered and everything I went to my Book of Mormon class which was so cool! My professor has a great sense of humor and like to give out free bonus points for perfect attendance.  Also, he takes the mid term.  Yes, the professor not us.  The mid-term is worth a hundred points and in order to receive the points as students we have to make sure that he knows all our names.  LOL. Crazy huh?! so its our job to help him remember our names.
I'm hoping that through this class I will develop good study habits and scripture reading habits.  I read a great talk today for my Book of Mormon class and in that talk it was discussed how instead of randomly spending hours on scripture study it is better to study on a regular basis even if it is for less time.  I had never heard this before and I thought it was pretty cool so now you know as well.
After that class I went to my American Heritage class.  This professor also has a great sense of humor, which is a relief.  I think that I will really enjoy this class.  It focuses more on the ideas and reasoning behind events in history instead of dates and places.  Which is great cause I hate memorizing dates!
So then it was time for math.  And to my relief this math class appears o be really easy for me! I actually helped the teacher figure something out that she was unsure of, which boosted my confidence significantly!! The only thing that stinks is that the first thing she said was for every hour of class expect to put in 2-3 hours of homework time.  Yet, I managed to finish my lesson within just 1 hour... so there!! :D
I'm a little nervous about being able to make it to my math class on time though... I only have 10 minutes to make it all the way across campus.  Today I used my nifty iPhone to time how long it took me to get there but I got lost so my data was inconclusive.
All in all I love it here.  Every class starts with a prayer and it is so easy to feel the spirit throughout every class.  It is almost as if you can feel the love your Savior has for you and the importance the Lord feels for us to get an education.  It is a great motivator and helps a lot with my personal confidence in my abilities to succeed.
I love you all and even though I love it here I miss all of you greatly! I hope everything is going great for you!

My First Day

Hi everyone! Today was my first day as an independent adult!! It's pretty intense to be honest. So I got up at 5:46 a.m. in order to be ready for orientation, which was at 7 (we had to meet at 6:30 though).  It was really hard to pay attention during orientation because I was so dang tired but I managed.  Then after devotional we had a free breakfast of pancakes, sausage and eggs.  We then did a service project, which we did outside and it was so cold on my bare legs! We made hats for newborn babies. lol! They were cute!! Then I ran around campus doing the tasks that were necessary. I got an Icard... which has a picture on it and I look like a dang chimo!! I think I will have to use the same card throughout the four years I am here too.... I also got a parking permit for my car, got the WiFi fixed on my computer, and got my dad a father's day present! (I'm such a good girl! ;D ).
Later today I have a devotional which I'm really excited for. The only thing I don't really like about it is that I will have to dress up for it... but I will just have to deal with that.
Tomorrow is my first real day at BYU-I so I will have to let you know how I deal with that... I'm pretty nervous.  I haven't yet gotten the chance to walk around campus and see where my classes are but hopefully I will have time later today.
Well I already miss all of you! I love you guys! :D
